Indian ethnic wear is not like buying a T-shirt off a rack. A lehenga choli, fitted salwar kameez, or stitched saree blouse needs to fit your exact proportions — not a generic size chart. Getting this wrong is the single biggest reason orders don't fit. The good news: measuring yourself at home takes 10 minutes and a soft measuring tape.
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it parallel to the floor. Do not suck in or push out. Take a natural breath and measure. This is your bust measurement.
Tip: Add 1–2 inches for comfort. LuxeMia blouse stitching includes standard ease — mention if you prefer a tighter or looser fit in order notes.
Measure around your natural waistline — this is the narrowest part of your torso, usually about 1 inch above your belly button. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Do not measure at the hips or belly.
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks, usually 7–9 inches below your natural waist. Stand with feet together for accuracy. This measurement governs lehenga skirt and salwar fit.
Measure from the tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other, across the back. This is crucial for blouse and kameez fit — narrow or wide shoulders significantly affect the look and comfort.
Measure from the top of your shoulder, down through the bust, to where you want the blouse to end. Standard lehenga blouses end just below the bust (cropped). Specify your preferred length if different.
Measure from your natural waist down to the floor (or desired hemline). For floor-length lehengas, measure barefoot. If you plan to wear heels, add 2–3 inches. Most of our lehengas are designed for floor length.
With your arm slightly bent, measure from the top of the shoulder to the desired end point — elbow, wrist, or wherever you want the sleeve to end. Note your preference: full sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, or short sleeve.
When placing a custom order on LuxeMia, enter your measurements in the order notes field exactly as below:
If you are between two sizes, always go larger. It is far easier for a local tailor to take in a garment than to let it out. For hand-embroidered pieces, the embroidery is fixed — fabric cannot be added.
